This policy is intended to be consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Searching for a number
You don't need an account to search, and the numbers you search for are not linked to you. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
Leaving feedback
When you submit feedback we store:
- the phone number, your rating and the text you write
- the date and time of your submission
- a one-way, salted hash of your IP address, used to limit spam and abuse (we don't store the IP address itself)
- your browser's user agent string, used to help detect automated submissions
Your rating, text and submission date are published once approved. The hash and user agent are never published. Please don't include personal information in your feedback. We remove it if we find it.
How we use information
- to display community reports and summaries for phone numbers
- to moderate and categorise feedback, which may include review by automated tools such as AI models
- to prevent spam, abuse and manipulation of ratings
- to keep the website secure and working properly
We don't sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't save anything in your browser's local storage.
Storage and disclosure
Information is stored with our hosting and database providers, which are located in Australia. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and only disclose it if required by law.
Access, correction and removal
You can ask to access or correct information we hold about you, or ask us to remove feedback you submitted. Because we don't collect names or accounts, please include the phone number you reported and roughly when you submitted it so we can find it.
Contact and complaints
Email contact@callid.au with any privacy questions or complaints. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (opens another website). See also our terms of use.
